The Top 50 Covers Of All Time

Let me start by saying I am a lover of covers. Some people hate them outright, I usually give them a chance. Most of the time I grow to love them, sometimes more than the originals.

I managed to get my hands on 49 of the top 50 covers of all time as shown here which I found over at Jaymis‘s

The only track I am missing :

Wichita Lineman by Dennis Brown

This track does not seem to exist anywhere.

Who knew that “Hazy Shade of Winter” by the Bangles was actually a cover!!!! A cover of a song by Simon & Garfunkel no less!!!!

I’ll tell ya some of these tracks brought back so many memories, I cant remember the last time I listened to The House Martin’s “Caravan of Love”.

Such great songs.

Dragon Optical Illusion

Just a quick post (hopefully I’ll get back to updating my blog on a regular basis)

I am seriously freaking out with this dragon optical illusion

I checked the page out when it appeared on boingboing

I watched the video and thought it was doctored.

I then printed it out, cut it up and put it together.

Once done I placed it on the table and walked from side to side…….AND THE DRAGON KEPT STARING AT ME!!!!!!!

It is quite possibly the scariest thing I have ever seen.

The human brain is not as impressive as I once thought it was.

A Perfect Circles New Album

A Perfect Circles new album should be coming out on November 2nd. Its going to have several covers (from what I have read 1 original track and the rest are covers)

You can listen to the only song I could find here A Perfect Circle – Imagine

As you all know its a cover of the song by John Lennon and its pretty good. I wonder what Rhiannon’s opinion on covers of any Beatles related song is (seeing as she is the companys Beatles know it all 🙂 )

Now go off listen and be merry my pretties.

Spaced

Well it finally arrived on Wednesday Night.

I got Season 1 & 2 of the TV show Spaced off Ebay because I missed it when it was on ABC (Damn strange time slots for good shows).

I am trying very hard not to watch the entire thing in one sitting (must limit to one episode a day)

Ani Difranco

I was watching a great documentary about the war on Iraq yesterday on SBS (I will try and find out what it was called, I only started watching half way through)

At the end there was this track of spoken verse to a funky jazzy riff. I waited till the end and jotted down the artist and the song.

The artist was Ani Difranco and the track was called “Self Evident”.

You can download the MP3 by clicking here Ani Difranco – Self Evident.

I love music that has a message and is delivered in an interesting/original manner.

You can check out the site RighteousBabe.com for more info about this very interesting artist.
